MUFASA: THE LION KING
Worked with the art department and production designer Mark Friedberg to design and create environments in unreal engine. The project included a full virtual production pipeline with the full animatic being shot in unreal to present to Disney. Oversaw creation all assets created for the unreal sets, including naming convention and catalog documentation necessary for post production. Oversaw environment troubleshooting and coordination for VR scouts that included department heads. Oversaw all shoot days and served as the art department supervisor for all of shooting. I assisted in optimization or trouble shooting for any environment related issues. Was the main contact for art department with our post production vendor MPC.

Head of the Snake
Long snake like canyon. In order to invade the approaching white lions, Sarabi hits a beehive on a baobab which provokes an elephant stampede. The challenging part of the design was figuring out the level of destruction, which included knocking over two pillars.

Document Examples: information to be handed to post production and stage crew to understand organization of unreal file. Keeping these massive environments organized and optimized was a huge task, daunting but critical to the pipeline. Art department’s VAD worked in a separate unreal project; once the environment was approved it was migrated to the stage unreal project, which was a custom build that MPC worked with epic games to create. Many environment changes, like the pillar toppling over, were laid out in different state progressions to pitch in VR to Barry Jenkins and later to be used for animation references. All the sets had to optimized and trouble shot for VR scouting.
Falls
Giant water fall based on Victora Falls, Africa. Take and Mufasa, in an effort to evade the approaching white lions, plunge down a 200ft waterfall.
